Although three black-type winners during a single day are not a common phenomenon among Machiavellian’s daughters, the Sunday results of his daughters well demonstrate not just exceptional talent, showed by his daughters at stud, but also its scope which is not limited by continents, distance nor sires of their progeny.
The hat-trick was kicked off in Kyoto by the three-year-old Vivlos, Deep Impact’s daughter of the Halo line, who won the Shuka Sho (Gr.1) over 2,000 metres. A sixteen-hour-flight away, in Pune, India, in the local Pune Derby, also classified as Gr.1 but only in India (“listed” internationally), was won by four lengths by Accolade, the son of Fairy King’s son Burden of Proof. Another few-hour’s flight to the west, in Milano, Italy, the black-type hat-trick of Machiavellian's daughters was closed by the four-year-old Intense Life, who won the 1km sprint Premio Omenoni by two lengths.

Machiavellian, the son of Mr Prospector and Halo’s daughter Coup de Folie, the granddaughter of the legendary Natalma, was an exceptional individuality on the racecourse. Although his career consisted only of seven races, as an unbeaten two-year-old in three races, including two Gr.1 races, he became the French two-year-old champion. At three, after the victory in the Prix Djebel, he finished second to Tirol in the 2,000 Guineas, fourth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and he closed his career after a break of two-and-a-half months by the last position in the Prix Maurice de Gheest.
His stud career, spent at the Sheikh Mohammed’s Dalham Hall Stud, was not long either but it was exceptionally successful. Although the stallion died prematurely at seventeen, he managed to produce 71 black-type winners, who represented 9.3% of all his foals of racing age. Among them, let’s mention Street Cry, Medicean, Almutawakel, Storming Home or Best of the Bests.
His sons are successful at stud as well and Street Cry was one of the best U.S. stallions, but it is his daughters who prove to be a real blessing for every breeder. I thinks some data are more eloquent than lengthy comments. His daughters have already produced 114 black-type winners of whom twenty-four won in a Gr.1 race. What is interesting and significant is that these 114 black-type winners are by 83 different stallions and these stallions are sons of 52 different sires. This well illustrates that Machiavallian’s daughters can produce stakes winners with a rather wide group of stallions and lines, which is another proof of Machiavellian’s exceptional qualities as a damsire.
Most black-type winners, thirty-three, were produced by Machiavellian’s daughters with the stallions from Danzig's line but it is also true that they had the biggest opportunity with them. As the table shows, most black-type winners were produced by his daughters with Invincible Spirit, with whom they produced a total of 38 foals of racing age. Among the most successful partners of Machiavellian’s daughters we will find another Green Desert's son Oasis Dream – despite this it cannot be said that Green Desert was a guarantee of success for Machiavellian’s daughters. Most often they partnered another Green Desert’s son, Cape Cross, who produced with them 41 foals of racing age but none of then won or placed in a stakes race. The results of Machiavellian’s daughters with the sons of Sunday Silence are interesting too – the inbreeding to Halo and his granddam Almahmoud seems to work very well in this case.
The second table shows most successful Machiavellian’s daughters. It has already been pointed out that the scope of sire with whom they could produce a stakes winner is the best proof of their qualities. Another one can be the fact that a total of twenty-four of his daughters produced black-type winners repeatedly. Although most of them are at the start of their stud career, the daughters of Machiavellian’s daughters are successful already, as they have produced a total of twenty-three black-type winners, including such stars as Charm Spirit, Galileo Gold or Avenir Certain.

I think that the data quoted above illustrate the talent of Machiavellian’s daughters, but let me just add one sphere in which his daughters are successful – they are great dams of sires. Shamardal, Dark Angel, Zoffany, Victoire Pisa and other of their sons have produced 151 black-type winners already and thus the blood of Machiavellian spreads through his daughters and their sons successful at stud.
