5. What can service Position query?

The Position query service can use our database to select horse by the names of the horses found in the pedigree. In the first table you can choose by the area of the pedigree in which the selected horse should be located. When you point your mouse to the red question mark in every category name you will see red-marked places in the pedigree, falling under the selected category (in the picture you can see places marked in the Sire Line category). When you enter, for instance, Shirley Heights into the “Damsire line“, you will find all the horses in the results, where Shirley Heights appears in the dam’s paternal line on any position in the first seven generations, as the graph shows you when you point the mouse to the question mark.

The second table is in fact an imaginary empty pedigree. If you enter a particular horse on any position, it will generate a list of thoroughbreds in whose pedigree the selected horse is located on the given position. Both queries, i.e. the ono by pedigree areas and the ono by the particular position, can be combined. Example: if you enter Sadler’s Wells into the “Sire line” box and Darshaan as the damsire, you will get a list of horses with Darshaan as the damsire and with on of the Sadler’s Wells line, including Sadler’s Wells, as the sire.
